Between Places

Stairways, entrances and passageways are places we usually pass through. Here, they become settings for moments of waiting, movement and quiet observation.

Michael Allmaier brings the human figure into dialogue with colour, light and architectural form. Ordinary urban spaces reveal unexpected scenes.

Human Scale

The human figure gives architecture a sense of scale. Across parking structures, colonnades and stairways, bodies meet the rhythm of concrete, stone, light and shadow.

Michael Allmaier explores the tension between monumental spaces and individual presence. Lines, repetition and perspective become a stage for moments of stillness, vulnerability and quiet confidence.

Framed Portraits

The picture frame becomes a stage: people reach beyond it, cross boundaries or encounter one another across separate pictorial spaces. Flowers, windows and everyday objects speak of closeness, longing and the contradictions of our time.

Michael Allmaier combines carefully staged scenes with humour and playful ambiguity. His photographs invite us to look more closely and imagine the stories unfolding between glances, gestures and objects.

THE ARTIST

Michael Allmaier

Michael Allmaier is a fine-art photographer based in Leipzig, Germany. His photographic journey began at twelve, followed by work in his own darkroom and his first publication at fourteen. Encouraged by photographer Peter Sapper, he developed an approach shaped by light, composition and the visual language of painting. His work spans portraiture, architecture and conceptual photography. Rather than limiting himself to one genre, he uses the camera to give form to ideas, with atmosphere and meaning at the heart of his practice.

Shared gallery room

Your chosen display name, avatar type, position, direction and seated state are transmitted to our one.com server and shared with people in the same room. No account or real name is required. A technical session cookie and a random per-tab identifier associate your requests with your own visitor. Inactive avatars expire after approximately 45 seconds. Closing the page also requests removal.

Room messages and moderation

Messages you submit are visible to everyone in the room. Please do not post personal or confidential information. The room retains at most 100 messages for up to 20 minutes. Expired records are removed on subsequent room activity. You may mute a visitor locally for the current visit. Reported messages, reporter identifiers and timestamps are kept separately for up to seven days for review, with expired reports removed on subsequent room activity. Muting does not delete another visitor's messages for everyone.

Website delivery and browser storage

one.com hosts this website. Optional gallery caching is off until you select “Allow gallery cache”. If you allow it, public gallery code and images are saved on this device to speed up later visits. Choose “Necessary only” under “Privacy & cookies” to withdraw this permission and remove the optional gallery cache. Your choice is remembered for up to six months. Necessary session cookies, visitor session storage and shopping-basket storage support the services you request; they do not enable advertising or analytics. Chat responses and payment API responses are not added to that offline cache. Your browser may retain its own technical cache and session data until you clear it. This gallery does not add advertising or analytics trackers. Hosting access-log details and retention depend on the one.com hosting service.

Virtual café payments

PayPal processes real EUR payments for virtual café items. The gallery keeps the order reference, selected item, amount, payment state and PayPal transaction references to verify and fulfil the purchase. Your payment credentials are entered at PayPal, not in the gallery. PayPal's own privacy information applies to its payment service. The virtual item is supplied only after the server verifies the payment. Purchase records are separate from the short-lived room conversation.

Email enquiries and your rights

We use information you send by email to answer your enquiry and meet applicable record-keeping duties. Contact the controller to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing, subject to applicable law. You may also contact the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner.

Card payments through Stripe

If you choose card payment, Stripe processes the information required to complete the payment. For physical prints, this includes your billing and delivery details. The gallery receives confirmation and the order information needed for fulfilment; it does not store your full card number. See Stripe’s privacy information.

Purposes and legal bases

Delivering and protecting this website, preventing misuse and moderating public contributions serve our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Data necessary for the gallery functions or purchases you request is processed under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; legally required records are processed under Article 6(1)(c). Optional browser caching is enabled only with your consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG and, where applicable, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Strictly necessary device storage is covered by Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG. Consent to optional storage is not required to visit the gallery.

Hosting and technical requests

When a page or file is requested, technical connection data such as your IP address, request time, requested address and browser information is transmitted to the hosting service to deliver and protect the website. one.com provides hosting infrastructure and processes hosted personal data as a service provider. Log retention and security-backup cycles follow the applicable hosting configuration and contract; contact us for information about the records relevant to your request. We do not use these requests to create advertising profiles. See one.com privacy information.

Guestbook and patrons’ wall

Submitting a guestbook entry publishes your text and chosen signature to gallery visitors. A technical session-derived identifier and submission reference support moderation and duplicate prevention. Entries are not subject to the room chat’s 20-minute expiry; they remain until removed or until the guestbook is discontinued. Contact us to request removal. Only the latest 100 approved entries are shown, which does not mean older entries have been deleted. Patrons’ chosen names are displayed only if public display was requested, for one month from confirmed payment. Contribution amounts are not published.

Purchases and contact requests

For a requested purchase, we process the order contents, contact and delivery details where needed, amounts, transaction references and payment status to fulfil the order and handle support. Records are retained while needed for fulfilment, support or legal claims and for applicable tax and commercial retention duties. Information sent by email is retained while needed to answer the enquiry and meet applicable duties. Optional contributions and purchases are separate from cookie choices.

Recipients, external links and international processing

Other visitors receive only the profile state and public messages described above, not your payment credentials. Hosting, payment, and any printing or delivery provider receive the information necessary for their task. External websites such as 1x, Instagram, PayPal and Stripe receive connection information when you follow their links or use their checkout; their services may process data outside the European Economic Area. The applicable provider privacy information describes locations and transfer safeguards. The gallery does not embed advertising, analytics or social-media tracking scripts. PayPal information is available in its Privacy Statement.

Choices and rights

You can withdraw optional cache consent at any time through “Privacy & cookies”, as easily as giving it. This does not affect earlier lawful processing. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation. Access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability rights apply as provided by GDPR. You may complain to the supervisory authority linked above. A real name is not required to visit. Public chat and guestbook use is voluntary; checkout details are required only for the purchase you request. We do not make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on visitors.

Optional gallery statistics

Only with your separate consent, we measure visits, active time, rooms, artwork viewing, shop and basket actions, and server-confirmed purchases. Source: referring domain and safe UTM labels; country only from trusted server information, otherwise unknown. No names, fingerprints or full IP addresses are stored in this statistic. No external analytics provider. Session details: 30 days; daily aggregates: 395 days; expired data is cleaned during use. The consent choice lasts up to 183 days. Withdraw at any time under Privacy & cookies: collection stops and the current statistical session is deleted. Earlier daily totals are retained only for the stated period. Refusing does not restrict the gallery. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Separate one.com hosting and security logs are described elsewhere.

Ordering and payment

The gallery visit and gallery benches are free. Adding an item to the basket does not place an order. Review the artworks, formats, quantities, destination, shipping and total before continuing to PayPal. Payment is currently available exclusively through PayPal, in EUR. The final payment button at PayPal places an order with an obligation to pay. A purchase is confirmed only after the gallery server verifies successful payment. Consumer prices include applicable taxes; the shipping charge is shown separately. No further gallery payment fee is added.

Prints and delivery

Standard prints are physical artworks in the finish and image dimensions selected in the basket. Delivery takes approximately 2–3 weeks after payment. Portrait and landscape orientation follow the original artwork. For framed formats, the displayed dimensions describe the image rather than the outer frame. Shipping: Germany 6,90 €; Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and France 7,90 €; other EU destinations 19,90 €. Island deliveries in the first two zones cost 15,00 €. Other special deliveries and destinations outside the EU require an individual quotation before ordering. Select the same delivery country here and at PayPal. Limited editions remain available by quotation: edition availability, paper, frame, glazing and technical feasibility are confirmed before a binding order.

Digital wallpapers

A wallpaper purchase costs 14,90 € per artwork and contains phone and desktop JPG versions in a ZIP file. Maximum long edge: 2,000 pixels; 72 dpi metadata. The complete image is fitted to the wallpaper canvas. A ZIP-capable device and a viewer supporting JPG are required. The licence permits personal use as a screen background on your own devices. Printing, redistribution, resale and commercial use are excluded; copyright remains with Michael Allmaier. There is no shipping charge. After confirmed payment, download links appear in the gallery and remain valid for seven days. Save the files and the order confirmation. For a failed download or replacement link, contact the seller with the order reference. Statutory rights for defects remain unaffected.

Right of withdrawal

Consumers may withdraw from standard print purchases within 14 days, without giving a reason. The period starts when you or a person you designate, other than the carrier, receives the goods; for goods in one order delivered separately, it starts with receipt of the last item. For digital content, the period starts when the contract is concluded. To withdraw, inform Michael Allmaier at the postal or email address above through a clear statement before the period expires. You may use the model form below, but it is not compulsory.

We reimburse payments, including the cost of standard outbound delivery, without undue delay and within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed, without a reimbursement fee. Additional costs of an express or other non-standard delivery choice are excluded. For goods, reimbursement may be withheld until we receive the goods back or you provide evidence of return, whichever occurs first. Return the goods to the seller within 14 days after notifying withdrawal. You bear the direct return shipping costs. You are responsible only for any diminished value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

For paid digital content not supplied on a physical medium, the withdrawal right expires when supply begins only if you have expressly agreed to immediate supply, acknowledged the resulting loss of your withdrawal right and received confirmation of these declarations. The separate checkbox at checkout records those declarations. Your statutory rights concerning defective content or incorrect delivery remain unaffected. Standard catalogue prints are not treated as automatically exempt from withdrawal merely because they are produced after ordering.

Order confirmation and support

After payment, save the downloadable order confirmation, which contains the order reference, purchased items, total and the applicable terms. If confirmation is interrupted, return using the same PayPal order link and retry verification; do not pay a second time. Contact info@michaelallmaier.de for delivery, withdrawal, defects or download support. Mandatory consumer rights are not restricted.

Gallery café and respectful visits

Café drinks and snacks are virtual items for your avatar, purchased for real money; no physical food or drink is delivered. They are released only after payment verification and used within the gallery. Please treat other visitors respectfully, respect privacy and do not share unlawful or abusive content. The live room chat is visible to visitors in the same room. The visit requires a compatible browser and graphics support.

Photograph protection

Photographs © Michael Allmaier. The gallery does not grant permission for screenshots, screen recordings, copying or unauthorised downloads. Permission is required, except where mandatory law allows otherwise. The Artist may document his own work. Purchased downloads remain subject to their licence. Visitors receive display previews; browser copy controls do not prevent screenshots made outside the browser.
